Introduction

Skyvan Steve Oddy is a freelance Flight Examiner, Instructor and Aviation Consultant. He joined the RAF in 1969 and gained an aeronautics degree at Southampton University. After a career flying Vulcans and Canberras and instructing on Jet Provosts he left the RAF in 1989 and joined British Aerospace. Steve spent the next 8 years in Saudi Arabia instructing on the Pilatus PC-9 in Riyadh where he helped to set up an instructor school for the Royal Saudi Air Force. He found enough spare time to complete an Open University degree in computer science as well as writing the original Radio Aids Navigation Tutor (RANT). Steve returned to the UK in 1997 and moved to Oxfordshire where he worked as an instructor at Oxford Air Training School, before joining the UK CAA as a Staff Flight Examiner in 1999. He has PIC time on some 65 different types. He retired from the CAA in 2011 and is now living in Gloucestershire.

Services

Steve normally examines in the Gloucestershire/Oxfordshire area, taking in the airfields at Oxford, Gloucester, Coventry, Wellesbourne, Kemble and Enstone. Tests further afield will be considered on a one-off basis, but travel expenses will be charged.

Advanced instructional work (examiner training, ME instructor training, IR instructor training) will also be considered for which a daily rate of £300 will be charged.
